Dryer Operator

Summary: 
Tends machines that extract rugs and dry rugs by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions: 
  • Moves loaded slings of extracted rugs along overhead monorail, and pushes into dryer machine.
  • Reads dye ticket and selects proper drying program.
  • When cycle is completed, check for uniform dryness and if instructed by dye ticket, remove two rugs from the run and carry to dye office for shade checking.
  • Unloads rugs (minimizing tangling on long and/or large rugs) into buggies and pushes to the stacking operation.
  • Cleans lint filters and dryers daily.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience: 
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences. 
Physical Demands: 
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, and be able to detect odors.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
